Welcome to the updated Freedom Youth website. Freedom Youth is a youth group for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual young people, and those questioning their sexuality aged 13-21 years of age. Freedom Youth is based in central Bristol and is part of the LGB young people's project within Youth and Play Service's based in Bristol .

SELF HELP BOOKLET FOR LGB YOUNG PEOPLE

Freedom Youth have created a new self help booklet for LGB Young People.

Why a self help booklet?

To provide a detailed guide which young people could easily and discretely put in their pockets.
To offer specific information and advice for LGB Young people.
To raise awareness of the issues that affects LGB Young people.
To create a resource that LGB young people could use even if they do not use a youth group like Freedom.

Members of the group started looking at what needed to be in the booklet. Once we got the list together we split into smaller groups and started to find the information that was relevant for each topic that we needed.

The name of the booklet

We wanted it to be simple and affective, after several discussions we decided on “What's It All About?'”This seemed appropriate as it asked the question to the booklet, as the booklet told you what's it all about?

The booklet contains advice and support and has many articles including coming out, safer sex, useful contacts and more.

OutLoud is a new youth group

for Lesbian and Bisexual young women, and young women who may be questioning their sexuality, aged 13-19 years of age in the Bristol Area. The group offers a safe space to meet other young women and the opportunity to get involved in activities and residentials. Y Front is a Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual young people's forum. It was founded in 2005 by young people with the help of Freedom youth.

Aims of the Forum group

To represent LGB young people in Bristol and attend conferences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
To voice the views and opinions of LGB young people in decision making arenas locally and nationally.
To be part of any consultation process relating to LGB young people and regarding other issues affecting young people in general.

Aims for the future

To be recognised as a voice for LGB young people locally in Bristol .
To work in close communication with Freedom Youth to take on every-ones views and opinions.
To gain links within Bristol to better achieve our aims.
To ensure that life for LGB young people is made safe and healthy.
